14 Dec CHRISTMAS EVENTS 2024

Christmas in Varenna 2024
Varenna is preparing for the holiday season, full of emotions and events, thanks to the usual collaboration between the Town Administration and various local associations.
The lights have been turned on in the village, as well as the opportunity to see and “experience” the Nativity Scene in the ancient Romanesque church of San Giovanni Battista, which can be visited on the days before the holidays at 5:30 PM and on public holidays at 10:30 AM and 5:30 PM.
The traditional “Buseccata in compagnia” (a gathering with gift exchange and well wishes) will take place in the Polifunctional Hall of Via Roma (reservation required) on Thursday, December 19, starting at 7:30 PM, organized by Pro Varenna and the Varenna section of the Alpine Group.
On December 21, 22, and 23, at 2:30 PM, Santa Claus and his elf will arrive by Vaporetto at the floating pier in Varenna.
On Tuesday, December 24, the event will take place at Riva Grande, always by Vaporetto, starting at 4:30 PM, followed by a procession to Piazza San Giorgio, gift distribution, and a snack. On December 29, at 9:00 PM, the Varenna Town Administration will host, as every year, the Grand Christmas Concert at the parish church of San Giorgio, organized by the Opera Simphony Orchestra conducted by Maestro Maurizio Tambara, which will present a program entirely dedicated to Christmas traditions.
Before the concert, Mayor Mauro Manzoni will present scholarships to deserving students from Varenna.
On December 31, we will bid farewell to the old year and welcome the new one in Piazza San Giorgio, starting at 11:00 PM, with Giorgino DJ, Roby’s DJ, and Max KingArt DJ. In case of bad weather, the event will take place in the Polifunctional Hall of Via Roma. On January 2, at 9:00 PM, the Greenslever Gospel Choir, directed by Fausto Caravati, will perform at the church of San Giorgio.
The curtain will fall on the Christmas events on the afternoon of January 6, when we will celebrate together the arrival of La Befana.
All that remains is to say: we look forward to seeing you and wish you happy holidays!
