The Varenna Festival is proud to present its flagship event: on Thursday, July 24th at 9:15 PM, in the stunning setting of Villa Cipressi, two giants of international classical music, Uto Ughi and Bruno Canino, will perform. The evening promises emotion, art, and virtuosity.
Uto Ughi, one of the most renowned violinists in the world, is considered the heir of the great Italian violin school. A prodigious artist, he debuted at just seven years old and was a student of the famous George Enescu. He has performed on the most prestigious stages worldwide under the direction of the greatest maestros. Knight of Grand Cross of the Italian Republic, he is also a promoter of important initiatives for the dissemination of music and the protection of artistic heritage. He plays two legendary instruments: a Guarneri del Gesù from 1744 and a Stradivarius from 1701.
Bruno Canino, a world-famous pianist, has collaborated with the most important musicians of our time, from Severino Gazzelloni to Itzhak Perlman, from Claudio Abbado to Pierre Boulez. Always attentive to contemporary music, he is also the author of reference books for musical training.
